Today in 1935 the game Monopoly goes on sale for the first time.
I remember playing that game a lot. I think the game Catan has kinda taken Monopoly's place in the last several years.

there are many versions of Monopoly now. i've spent many hours playing it as a kid but can't recall the last time i played. maybe about 20yrs ago.

since i liked model railroads and trains there was (perhaps still is - i've not looked into it lately) a game called Railroad Tycoon that got me hooked for some time as it ran on my notebook PC from the mid-90s. i got an upgraded version to play on a better PC later but by that time i was fed up with MS anything and abandoned it for several Linux versions and that would take me eventually to Simutrans but i don't play that one or others these days.

there's a lot of other games i've played and continue to play, but this is getting to be long and late so i'll stop here and get off this particular train ride... :)

I used to really enjoy playing monopoly with my father and friends. I never got into chess only drafts sadly.

I think it would be fun to hear everyones top 3 favorite games! My current faves are code names, charades, and ransom notes.

Draughts (checkers), @Marie2020 ?

February 8 is Laugh and Get Rich Day. "A day for enriching your life with happiness." Apparently inspired by the 1931 motion picture comedy by that name about a struggling family during the Great Depression. The story line is that they finally gain some security by having invested in the invention of the tire valve. Ppssssss! :D
