Twins!

I was out picking the squash this morning - I made a vow to find no baseball bats in the zuke patch this summer - and I found this interesting set of twins:

I buy the summer squash collection each year from The Cook's Garden. The photo I posted the other day is a harvest from those plants. I've always been pleased with the selection that comes up - and I'm even starting to like eating them, provided they're small. I hate the gushy seed cavities in the bigger ones!

I know what you mean about baseball bat size zuch's though. Turn your back on the plants for more than 15 min.'s and there they are!:/

Wow. that is really cool!! I purposely let some of the zukes get big because I like to make bread with them. Or main dishes. I love the small ones for eating raw. Or sliced length ways and grilled. Remember to leave the skin on your zukes when eating raw especially. That is where all the nutrition is. My squash are just starting so I have not had much to harvest yet. I did plant a variety called Eight ball, look just like regular zucchini but it is round. So far I am loving that one. So much fun to see them grow into balls.

I've gotten a few twins in my yellow str. neck squash but yesterday my son came in with a triplet! I told him he should have left it....I would have let it get really big to as to be more of a monstrosity!

Boy talk about a bright yellow!. I had to put sunglasses on just to look at the picture.. Do they get greener as they mature? Looks like some green creeping in from the stalk end.

they seem to be that bicolored, if anything, they get yellow through the whole length. Hopefully I'll never find out and I'll get 'em while they're little and luscious, but you know how summer squash goes!
