Update on my potato leafed tomato volunteer

At least one more week before I can safely plant out tomatoes -and that will be pushing it. So Hoodie-any ripe tomatoes yet? So jealous......

It lost it's potato leaf look as it matured. It's putting out regular tomato leaves now and still growing. It shows a touch of virus infection in some parts but seems to be resisting it. I have quite a few green tomatos and one almost ready to ripen. It isn't a Brandywine. The green tomatos are heavily grooved while the brandywine is smooth and the Mortgage lifter has several heavy lobes instead of grooves. I can only guess the seed came from one I bought at a farmers market or the organic bin.

Lol, Hoodat, now you're adding new dimensions and possibilities :P

A potato leaf young plant that turns into a regular leaf mature plant that tolerates a virus and grows through a San Diego Winter and has heavily grooved Tomatoes. Do you mean like Zapotec pleated or more like costoluto genovese?

All the philosophizing and theorizing and guessing, first is it a potato or a tomato. I'm not gonna be surprised if it's a Calla Lily now.

:idunno

I love mysteries like this!

Might be a cross
BTW my red Pontiac potatos are developing seed pods. I think I'll plant a few seeds next Spring and see what I get. I never planted potato seeds before so it should be educational whatever (if anything) turns up.
