I have verbascum plants in my front butterfly garden that has flowered already for the year. Now there are small, green, hard, berry looking objects on the spires where the flowers were. I am inclined to guess that they are seed pods, but I was wondering if they self seed or if I can collect these pods and plant them or dry them to plant next season. Any input would be appreciated. I really like the way they look and want a whole border if them next year. This is only the second year with them. Thanks!

Yes, those "berry-looking" things are the seed pods.

If you let the seed pods dry on the plant, they should self-seed for you. If you decide to try seeding them for next year, wait until the seed pods are completely dry before you harvest the seeds.

Hope this is some help!

Thank you so much for the advice! I'm going to see if I can harvest some seeds for next year. I really like these plants. Great in late spring for color and texture.
