Wanigan Associates, Bean Collectors

Sounds good, Bluejay. I tell you what though, it will probably take me until April to make up my mind. :P My 5-yr-old was sitting on my lap the other night as I scrolled through your website and kept exclaiming "look at that one, I like that one, that's my favorite!" She went more for the pinks, go figure! LOL

Then do one for you and one for her. Those can be her beans! Id even germinate some in a ziplock bag with wet paper towel so she can see the germination process. I washed some extra Kentucky pole beans I had in my pocket from planting one year. Sure enough after going through the wash overnight (was too tired/late to move them in the dryer till the AM) they germinated. I showed them to my daughter who was 3 at the time, she was fascinated! Then of course we HAD to plant them at her insistance. So we had a LOT of beans that year.

What a great idea! I love doing stuff in the garden with my 5 year old grand daughter and sprouting beans sounds like a fun thing to do. I've had her in the dirt with me before she could even walk. (eating dirt too :lau )

I hope my DD will want to get into gardening someday. I hope I don't wear her out with it! I try to let her help in her own way. Maybe starting her own seed collection would be just the thing to hook her on it. We'll definitely have to do the bean sprout experiment this spring for our homeschool.

Journey11, I toddled after my Daddy in his garden from the time I could walk. Some of my earliest memories are of me and my Daddy in his garden. He has been gone for years, but his legacy lives on in me. My DH will ask me "How do you know that?" I shrug and tell him, I just know. I just know because my Daddy taught me. What you teach your DD now will be with her the rest of her life. Keep up the good work.

Journey 11, That will be just fine waiting until April. I can imagine that seeing all those different beans at once might be a little overwhealming. Anyway I'm really not at home right now, and don't have access to my seeds. Visiting a friend in a warmer place than were I live for the winter. Some of my friends back home asked me just before I left when I was coming back. I said when you see the Robins return you'll know I'm not far behind.
