These people got their start selling salad greens. Don't be dumping all of those weeds, eat 'em! (Unless, they are deadly nightshade and such .)

There has to be something said for plants that really want to grow in your garden ...

Shades of Euell Gibbons, I am not that adventurous an eater. If I can nearly die from eating perfectly good morels, imagine what I could do to myself with something more questionable. Nope! Gonna stick to saved or purchased seeds rather than start nibbling next to the squirrels.

I've been picking dandelion greens and throwing them in our green smoothies and I also like lambs quarters and purslane. Oh, and miners lettuce is good too.
But that's as far as I've ventured into weed eating.

I see they offer chickweed, sorrel and cress, but a different variety than I have growing in my beds. Mine are just the ordinary weedy kind of weeds. I wonder if the cultivated versions taste very much better?

A friend was asking me about purslane. It is being heralded as a cure all. Told him I had plenty to share! It led me to look at pics online of the type you could purchase. The seeds you buy grow a tall plant- the kind that lives in my garden is a spreading variety. If I don't eat it myself- I am happy to serve it to my chickens!

saw your title this morning, but never got to open till i got home...
was thinking to myself all day @digitS' has finally lost it and has started to grow and sell marijuana to supplement his income..well silly me.
have plenty of edible weeds here on the property, but have to pass too many other tasty things are a growing in the gardens ...will leave them for the wildlife.

Lambs quarters were once something of a staple but not since I started growing (allowing) orach. I don't think it would be an invasive. It's a native, Wikipedia says, so it's had it's chance - from the Miocene onward.

Salsify. Hattie used to talk about that and harvesting from the garden. When? Skinny root ... does it taste good? Will soon bloom. Am I too late to try it?
