Tomatoes and corn (maize) are native to North America, and, therefore and pretty easy to grow here. The carrots that we like to grow and eat are NOT native. I have NO sand in my soil, and I've had trouble growing them in my back yard. I'm growing mine in large pots this year, instead. Enjoy your garden!!!

I'm going to try planting some corn under a polytunnel this year. I'll build a few extra 4x4ft beds and start my experiment in one of the 4x4ft beds with the polytunnel on it. Lets see how early I can start them! .. I checked under the poly tunnel today and its really toasty under there! I might put a themometer under it later on and check what the temp is overnight.
