Weed or Thyme

Thanks guys news not really that bad. My lawn is mostly weeds with patches of grass. When its cut once a week looks like green lawn. The flower beds are another matter.

Nyboy, if I were you, I'd get rid of that stuff while you can. It is insidious. It will invade any plantings you have and make it impossible to have a nice bed of anything. Also it creeps way out into the lawn, and stinks when crushed, pulled or mowed.

Best way to get rid of it ?

Maybe @seedcorn can give you some advice on that. I know the lawn guys have a terrible time getting it out of turf.

I bought a yellow plant labeled creeping Charley, planted it in planter with hopes of it draping down sides of planter. It died !!

You mean you think it died. It probably sent an emergency seed dispersal out before it expired and now you're toast!

Actually Creeping Charley is a common name used for many different plants. You may not have planted glechoma.

Crossbow or crossroads will kill leaving grass untouched. It will kill all broad leaves--even Bay's precious dandelions.
