I was just taking a shot in the dark before pics were posted. Now that a pic is posted, I am not *sure* it is bittercress. Some scale would be helpful in the photo and what it looks like at ground level. At any rate, we all love a good "mystery plant". Keeps us out of mischief.

Now that I see those pics I'd say yes. Bittercress for sure. It tends to reproduce like crazy but it isn't hard to pull after a rain or good watering.

Well whatever they're called I have them too. They are growing under the snow and they can go to seed before any thing else gets a chance to barely peek out of the ground. Have to get them while they're still in the rosette stage.

Could be scarlet pimpernel or some type of chickweed. Hard to say for sure without blooms or "hands on" examination. You're good, thistlebloom!
