Green Bean SupremeHow do you make the green bean casserole supreme? I would like to change it up a bit this year and then I can relay it to my daughter in law.
Serves: 8
1/2 teaspoon grated onion
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/2 teaspoon sugar
dash pepper
1/2 cup sour cream
4 oz. swiss cheese (1 cup) shredded
1 cup crushed cornflake crumbs
2-- 1 lb. cans french cut green beans, drained
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
In skillet cook onion in butter slightly, about one minute. Blend in flour, sugar, salt and pepper. Add milk, all at one time. Cook until thick and bubbly. Remove from heat, stir in sour cream. Add beans. Spread 1/3 of bean mixture in 1 quart casserole. Sprinkle 1/2 of the swiss cheese over beans. Repeat layers, ending with bean mixture. Combine cornflake crumbs and melted butter or margarine; toss until well mixed. Top beans with cornflake mixture. Bake in 400* oven for 20 minutes.
