How do you make the green bean casserole supreme? I would like to change it up a bit this year and then I can relay it to my daughter in law.
Green Bean Supreme
Serves: 8

1/2 teaspoon grated onion
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/2 teaspoon sugar
dash pepper
1/2 cup sour cream
4 oz. swiss cheese (1 cup) shredded
1 cup crushed cornflake crumbs
2-- 1 lb. cans french cut green beans, drained
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted

In skillet cook onion in butter slightly, about one minute. Blend in flour, sugar, salt and pepper. Add milk, all at one time. Cook until thick and bubbly. Remove from heat, stir in sour cream. Add beans. Spread 1/3 of bean mixture in 1 quart casserole. Sprinkle 1/2 of the swiss cheese over beans. Repeat layers, ending with bean mixture. Combine cornflake crumbs and melted butter or margarine; toss until well mixed. Top beans with cornflake mixture. Bake in 400* oven for 20 minutes.

Even the dogs enjoyed Turkey since I fed them under the table. DW thinks I am stealing their affections but I speak treats is all. Also if you run across the person who put the recipe out for oyster dressing please thank them for me and express how I hope they go to heaven but they better get busy.

I made oyster dressing once.

The reaction from others was such as to convince me to never do it again!

Totally messed up the rue for the gravy. Too little cook-down of drippings and lumping mean I was stirring, beating ... removing! Some semblance of smooth and I had little to reduce with milk. Maggi sauce won appreciation but it was like 10 gravy ounces for 6 people. Lucky to have used cream cheese in the mashed potatoes.

I had it once at my late hubby's southern relatives' Thanksgiving dinner, and it was to die for! Living in an inland state with little access to shellfish, I've never attempted to make it myself, but I recall it fondly.

they have those cans of little smoked oysters available at some supermarkets. i used to eat them once in a while but i've been eating sardines in mustard sauce mostly the past few years. as a once in a while meal they work well for me.

as far as stuffing, i've had several different kinds, the oddest was cornbread, cranberries, pecans and etc. it was good for me. not sure what others thought about it as nobody commented but everyone ate some of it so i assumed it was normal for them (i was a guest :) ).

i've not had oyster version, but i think it would be ok.
