What Are You Planting Today, This Week, This Month?

Wow Hangin'! That's a lot of work to prep for in that heat!

We ripped out the none surviving pumpkins and gave the plot a few days to make sure all the insects moved out. Got some row cover, and planted some Chinese cabbage, head cabbage and carrots. I'm going to be planting broccoli and more carrots today. The cooler days and constant rains that started yesterday should help everything germinate. Nights have been much cooler.

Stevie, I might have to do a craigslist search just for fun. That may be fun for the winter when I'm stuck inside, and everything in my yard is dead. ;)

I worked with a hired 14 year old helper from 6:30 AM to 12:15 PM when it started raining (lightening). My clothes were soaked, I was very dirty, but boy does my little SFG look beautiful. I'll have to take pictures and show you all our hard work. I have three new boxes for my onions and garlic, I made room for my potatoes in a bucket which I'll plant some tonight. I will plant a few squares every day starting this week and going on until mid September that way I'll have a staggering harvest for fresh eating. Labor day weekend we're planting the big garden, this year I'm sneaking in a row of beets. I want to try my hand at canning them this year!

Here in New Jersey, after I've pulled up the spent tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers and eggplants I replaced it with garlic in some beds and a cover crop in others. This years' cover is Winter Rye.

I did manage some planting yesterday and today. Not much, but it's a start! I put in some cabbage, brussels sprouts, swiss chard, spinach, red onion, and garlic. I still need to plant peas, several different types of lettuce, broccoli, some other types of onion, and more garlic.

Looking in the yard at the dead tomato stems and dreading winter. Can we just skip winter and go to spring ;)

I planted salad greens and cherry tomatoes in my aerogardens. Got about 50,000 seeds to plant next year and I hope we get a bigger yield then this past summer.

I'd like to skip winter this year also. There's been so much I didn't get done and we have a freeze warning for tonight so have to get outside and do some protecting.

Hypno- did you say 50000!!! Goodness, you better rest up this winter, so you are ready!

Its probably more then that. We caught a deal at the "Christmas Tree Shop". They had thousands of packets of seeds their for less than $1.00 a pack. We picked up a mix of veggies, greens, annuals and perennials. Plus I spent over $80.00 on ebay on seeds. I am going to have to buy some more starter trays for the aerogardens. I should get a picture of my shoebox filled with seeds. I could barely get it to shut LOL!!
