Woot the first raised bed is COMPLETE, 20 feet of awesomeness, I've augmented the plain ole' black earth to give it a bit more UMPF for my corn in the one end, I've got some in the weed patch, oops...I mean plot garden, that is fairly tall around 2 ft tall now, and some Sunnyvee going in the raised bed at the one end (10 feet of it, probably about 15 rows...I think I'm going to need more seeds), and the other 10 feet for salad vegetables, lettuces, spinach, and if I can get another bed in another few cukes will go in and some zukes ( I started zukes in July last year and we had quite a few at harvest!). Pumpkins are planted by the chicken coop on the edge of that garden, hoping they will run downhill toward the forest. They are doing great too.
Ohhh what else.. oh perhaps some more beans to go in, and my Tomatoes (both roma and beefsteak) have green toms on them and are doing great, the peppers are flowering (even the jalepeno on the patio and the green pepper on the patio). Rhubarb is coming in to be canned (we don't have strawberries this season so i'm buying a load locally and making a load of strawberry rhubarb jam this weekend).
Uhhh...that's all I think! ... the rock garden is going in finally, I've got 3 lupins in the ground, just another 4 left to go for this round... plus a Spirea and a couple cone flowers, mulch and find some nice big limestone boulders to go in.
Holy jeez I have lots to do! ... that's just the one section of the rock garden... I have a whole 40 or so more feet to do around the front. We live on a hill and I hate mowing on the side of it so we've got the picket fencing going up around the garden at the front for the raspberries to lean on, and I'm turning the otherside of that into a low-maintenance rock garden full of lupins and other periennials.
