My parents had a 58 Ford. I had already learned something about driving because from an 8-9 year old, I was the person driving the hay truck while Dad and Bro stacked the bales. (We went back to Dad driving later .)
For some reason, it was the Dodge pickup that I first drove out on the streets. Had to buy my 58 Volvo to take the driver's test. First Winter up north, it was record snow and cold – some of those still standing. The Volvo was a good choice. The 64 Thunderbird sure wasn't. Nearly stuck on plowed arterials. Out in the sticks, I'd get the 66 Ford pickup stuck and, one time even, the Ford tractor !
