As you can tell by my screen name- I LOVE PEPPERS! They are the biggest part of my garden, and also yield the most. So what varieties of pepper are you growing this year? Here's my list of what I propagated!

Poblano
Anaheim
Cayenne
Hot Banana
Sweet Banana
Hot Lemon
Pepperoncini
Jalapeo
Hungarian Wax
Tobasco
Carnival Bell
Chinese Giant Bell

And the list goes on until I see what is new at the nurseries this year during my leisurely visits...

Here's my list:

Thai Hot
Super Chili
Jalapeno M
Garden Salsa
Fushimi Sweet
Anaheim*
Marconi
Giant Marconi
Carmen Italian Sweet*
Snapper Bell
The Big Early Bell
Yummy

*new-to-me

The Takanotsume did not germinate (old seed). That's okay, the things are just dynamite! I was concerned about whether I'd have any Fushimi but they finally decided to show up. The Anaheim seed has crummy germination and the Jalapeno aren't much better but, fortunately, there will be enuf of the Jalapeno. Just had a few Snapper seeds so I'm putting a lot of weight on The Big Early! They did fine last year - better than the Snappers, so things might be okay in their 2nd year. Oh, and not too many Yummy but they've gotten started and are doing okay :).

I see by my notebook that I didn't start my peppers until March 14 last year, so I'm only 11 days later this year. Trying not to panic...

Here's my list:
Cayenne
Tam jalapeno
Jalapeno M
Hungarian Hot Wax
Wenks Yellow Hots
Anaheim Chili
Sweet Bannana
Healthy
Red Roaster
There were a lot of new ones I wanted to try, but I didn't buy any new seeds this year.

Hey Steve! How about that sunshine!!!

:weee

Has anyone ever grown
Manzano Rocotta Roja?

Hottest doggoned Pepper! I had them perennialized in the greenhouse when I lived in Montana.

The large deep chocolate colored seeds are slow to sprout, and ya have to make sure you wash your hands after handling them. Your fingers may burn, and if you itch your face or rub your eyes, ohhhhhhhhhhhh...these puppies are dangerous!

Recipe suggestion: To make your salsa hot, carefully pick one Manzano up and show it to your bowl of salsa. Ya don't even need to put any in! Lol! only exagerrating a little!

:yuckyuck

i'll have to keep my eyes opened for that one!

this is what i have planted for this year
Sweets:
California Wonder
Large Red (got them as a freebie so might not be the official name)
Banana
Purple Beauty
Stavros Pepperoncini
Quadrato Rosso D'Asti
Quadrato Giallo D'Asti
Corno Di Toro Giallo
Red Marconi

Hots (and VERY HOTS):
Ghost Pepper-Bhut Jolokia
Habaneros in orange, white and chocolate
Jalapeno
Early Jalapeno
Thai Hot
Serrano
Long Red Cayanne
Hungarian Hot Yellow Wax (very old seed so might not get it to grow)

We have 6 seedlings each started of:

Poblano
Joe E Parker
Habanero
Pepperoncini
Yellow Wax Pepper
Jalapeno

None of the Aneheims came up, but they are easy enough to find in pony packs.

Once I get my seeds inventoried and packed for swapping, I'll have several packs of the manzano to trade

This year I am trying

Marconi
Sweet banana
Orange bells
I have only tried the sweet banana and they were great, so I am hoping the others will be good also.
P.S thistle, loved the sunshine all day. We went out at 8:00 this morning and just came in. Hope this weather sticks around awhile!

Wasn't it great?! I was out yesterday all day and even though it wasn't as nice as today I got a little sunburned. Definitely hoping for more like today! Working tomorrow rain or shine, so :fl .

It's still cloudy, rainy, and even a touch of snow here in California!
