Where is the garden???

I am GLOWING* to beat the band right now.

* Glowing as in women don't sweat, they glow.

I saw a report on you on the evening news. They blamed it in the northern lights but we know better, don't we. ;) You were noticed in Pittsburgh.

I don't care what Seed calls it, I was sweating like a pig at hog killing time out there today.

I have to just toss my hands up and ask why???? There has to be a garden out there some where. It's just a matter of finding it. But I have to wait until MontyJ gets home from his trip to even attempt finding the garden. I have given my best to the weeding, but it's just too much for lil ole me to tackle alone.
I will help him when he gets back

It is a lot of work to lay cardboard or layers of newspaper down, then cover with mulch, straw or grass clippings. On the whole garden, between all the rows. A lot of work. But it is work in the spring, when it's not quite so hot out there. It's work you won't have to do when it's 99 degrees in the shade. And you won't have to spend nearly as much time watering, either. So get out there and mulch, people!
(hopping off the soapbox) :)

Yes, all gardens are work. We just have to decide when we want to do that work. Like so lucky says, is it now when temps are cooler or later when it's scorching hot? Either way, there's going to be work.

I say that those hot summer days are "good days" for weeding. The activity kills the weeds or the weeder. Either way, the task is accomplished.

I know a person with a garden larger than mine. She has people hand weeding but things get completely outta hand by late summer. I don't like to even drive by and see it ...

I don't like some things about mulch. I don't like most things about a rototiller. I have tried to encourage her to plan for rototiller use. Oh, she uses it, or has it used. The problem is careful spacing. She just can't seem to do that. Plant requirements don't control spacing in the garden. It was why I was pleased to downsize several years ago and get things back to beds - no tilling unless garden plants were completely outta the way, not often seldom a summer task.

Then the Garden Extension came along at 30' x 200' of additional ground. I do my very best to lay it out for maximum use of the rototiller. Wasted garden space is most everywhere! Little chance for garden plants to assist in suppressing weeds by crowding them a little! But then again, what the heck am I doing with such a large addition to my gardens? It almost feels like a "rent" I pay to use the rest of it ... but no, I just "farm it."

Where is the garden??? Good question, Dew! The garden I worked in so eagerly yesterday is now hiding under about 6 inches of the clean, white stuff that is still ganging up on me and mine. I sure hope the coming 50s and 60s of this coming weekend -- and into next week -- will make short work of all this fluffy white. I am so over winter weather!
