Winter doldrums...Jelly and Jam making time at my house

Why jelly and not jam?
Have you ever picked wild plums? They are tiny things, mostly pits and little "plum". I cooked them, strained them through a colander and cheesecloth. I mashed them with a mallet, there was a little pulp that mashed through, but not much.

Yeah and then there's Damson Plum jam, a real PITA to prepare the fruit but Ooohhhh, so tasty. I haven't made it for years, can't find any plums:(. Not many grow this plum tree anymore.

These are what is called Mexican plums. Dunno why, they are growing in east Texas. :lol: I will get an earlier start next year, we picked these on the tail end of the season.
