Winter flowers

Camellias should be good choices for you, Dahlia.

Wikipedia says southern Japan but in areas up to 3,000 feet elevation. The information made it sound like you may have to raise the pH of your soil.

Camellias are beautiful plants. Even tea plantations are pretty.

Mine have been bloomin. This plant is old and very tough made it thru ice , wind and sever snow storms.

There is also another Camilla plant Japanese Camellia (Camellia japonica 'Lady Vansittart')
It has many differnt colors on one plant and double petals - triple petals. They bloom a month later around end of
Jan-Feb.


This is a pic of them floating in a bowl of water. All colors and form are from one plant. Talk about a coat of many covers. A huge favorite.

Also a tough plant. I keep trimmed small 4’x3’ .
