Your Weather, 2024

i see that California got some snow in the mountains and rains down lower. also Colorado picked up some snow last week in their mountains, so the winter snow season is starting up in places. i'm glad we've not had any snow yet, but there has been plenty of frosts so far.

today was as perfect a day could be asked for. sunny, no wind, 50-55F. i was wondering if it was going to be too cold to do much outside but once i got digging i was just right and could crank right along. i guess the term chunk should have been used instead.

There is a weather station about a mile from our house where they measure rainfall, and the numbers for October are eye-popping. Over 15" of precipitation for us, and 19" for the unfortunate folks who live a short drive away, closer to the mountains. I am so grateful to have been able to harvest quite a few dry beans last month in spite of the soggy conditions. This wet pattern is really wearing out its welcome; if only it would let up and dry out for a couple of days. I would really like to get out there to tidy up the garden.

Wow! One month. Put an end to any notions regarding a Mediterranean climate for SW British Columbia for 2024.

You see, 19 inches of rain would be our average ANNUAL precipitation amount. Much (or most) would be as snow. Those mountains form quite a barrier near the Pacific.

Except during some of the Winter weeks, much of the clouds take a northeasterly route. That means, rainstorms may begin as far south as California and travel over a lot of territory before arriving here, just a few hundred miles ESE of your home, Branching Out.

It's not always the case and I'll be expecting a more generous sharing from your neck of the woods in the future .

I've been in Paso Robles for three days. A bit of clouds and a brief shower, and then a bright orb making me squint the rest of the time!! Here for my neice's wedding last nite. All good.

I have never been south of the Monterey neck of the woods on 101. Stayed in the interior to & from SoCal. Missed the "Ventura Highway" scene and I feel a loss for that .

I miss the stucco, red tile roof houses.

All the leaves are brown
And the sky is gray

@digitS' Absolutely remember ‘California Dreamin’ by the Mamas And Papas. I lived in LA many years of course LA was not as romantic a place as in the song. Bumper to bumper cars even then on freeways. Rock music was in its infancy in the 60’s. Look how far the music industry has come.
I worked at the main office of a insurance company just down the street from the ‘Wiskey A GO GO’ , the first night club in the US. It’s still there where all the new bands of the 60’s performed before well known. Memories…

Today we have very gusty wind and some rain that has continued from last night into the morning. A good day to work inside by the fire!

We're getting beaten by rain and wind--- hopefully it will let up soon. There's sun in the forecast after that!
