Ready, Set ... Winter!

I'm bracing for cold here.
I do love that winter had a false start. We had a nor'easter about 10 days ago. I spent a day racing around picking up the yard, covering the ends of the hoop coop, etc.
Afterwards, the snow all melted and we enjoyed some really beautiful weather. It will be less of a shock when it really arrives now...

You know it, Steve! My torture will be right around the corner...Looking at 20's by the weekend- and a chance of snow for many days to come. But today, was paradise! Got the elephant ears, dug and put away. And the dahlia's are tucked in for the winter.

@lesa - Elephant ear question. Mine are starting to get damage from the cold nights. Do I wait for the leaves to die back (which will be after this weekend's COLD snap) or do I cut the leaves off and dig them up now?????

It is 16 right now and feels like 7 the weather report says. I am exhausted from being out in the cold today.
You are outdoors until 2am, GWR?

I seem to finally be adjusting to the time change. Getting up during the small hours of the night may be a thing of the past.

Edit: Being outdoors yesterday would have been brutal! About all I did was get fallen leaves from the side yard over the root storage area in a veggie bed here at home.

'Several interruptions' ... so if I keep the remote next to the OTHER recliner..?? Maybe pour a cup of coffee and leave it on the kitchen counter ... wait.. I do that already. Sometimes it takes me 2 or 3 trips to remember why I got up and went into the kitchen. LOL
Now that I think about it - that is true more often than not. So maybe I'm already getting my RDA of interruptions.

I always go out and check on the rabbits before bed and usually give a handful of hay and make sure they have water. It seems to be getting later and later that I am up and I need to start pushing that back closer to midnight. A couple of nights a week my husband gets home around midnight, so we are all up waiting for him and have food for him and we all end up snacking. My brother comes over and plays cards with us, but now my daughter is going to have to get up earlier with her job, so I am not sure when we will sleep.

I think my rabbits actually help me during the winter. I have noticed a difference. Without the rabbits and the garden, I would be in horrible shape since I sit and type with my job. I took this TEST. i got a 9. :weeeThe first try I got 4 sitting. I used my hand and used my leg standing, so only got 8. I decided I could sit without using my hand, so I did, but I cannot get up without using my other leg. My brother who is more active and not overweight got 9 also. Adding about that test. I saw a video of a man in his 60s sit and stand with no trouble. I noticed he seemed to not have extra long legs, kind of compact built and normal weight. My brother is long legged, so might be a reason he did not stand and he had shoes on, so need to be barefoot.

I could never do the test. I injured my left knee almost 20 years ago and it doesn't flex all the way. I can kneel okay, but that leg is weak enough that I have to push with my hands off my "good" leg to stand.

But cycling helps the weak leg noticeably. I have a bike on a trainer out in the garage for winter workouts. When it's this cold the garage is not very appealing. :\

My DH is the same. He broke his femur bone on the right and that leg is shorter and his knee is weaker. He uses his left more. Doctor told him to use a bike or leg lift attachment on a bench. He said he could not do the test and I said, well if you went down with your arm and then same getting up you have 8, but even if he only had 7, the man can out walk me, out work me, out do everything thing I do, but I saw another video and he was a chiropractor or something and he was saying to just improve and stay as limber as you can even if you had to go to physical therapy. I am starting to limp for some reason, off and on, a hitch in my get-along. I started last winter using the Walk-Away The Pounds tapes and noticed when I went to Walmart I was not limping and was walking normal, so I am trying to get up the energy to start walking again.
