Painting the Wrap- a- round porch

I love a front porch almost put one on my house even though it would not go with style of house. I am building a garage unfortunately the town and i don't agree where it should go. Note to self call town hall today.

There is a new small home just a few hundred yards from the big veggie garden. The people moved in last year.

It has a fairly large roof and a wrap a round porch that it overhangs on two sides.

Green house and its design is charming! I know that there will be a temptation to enclose the porch and expand the home's square footage. It would be very ordinary looking if an owner decides to do that. I hope that never occurs. I enjoy looking at the home when I drive by.

The view from the porch must be quite wonderful, also.

LOVE the shade of blue you chose and it looks beautiful! People paint the ceiling of their porches blue because bees/wasps won't build a nest on the blue. Don't know why, but it's true and that's why you see so many old homes with the porch ceiling painted blue.

My question has always been, why not paint the sofitting blue as well?
That is an interesting thought. I do get a little bit of mud wasp and small bits of yellow jacket cells. But not very much. We get birds nesting on the eaves and will add replace a barrier to keep them out.. The birds are what started the repainting project.

Was it just last year that I was the "monkey jumping on the bed?" I had decided that leaving the bed covered with a tarp in the middle of the bedroom might make painting the ceiling a little easier for me ..

. it didn't .

A clean, bright ceiling adds so much to human comfort and optimism!

My Dad was a smoker so I always thought that white paint just yellowed. I too love a fresh white ceiling. I think because of the yellow ones of my childhood. Amazing how they just stay white!

I hope you won't be losing too much garden space!

Great looking job you've done there. May I ask what spray painter you used? Maverick is painting a fence for a friend and her sprayer isn't up to par. I was thinking of purchasing one but have no idea what to buy.
One negative about spraying-and not an issue for me. The wear and tear on your body from overhead rolling as opposed to quick spraying is worth it. I needed a little less than a gallon as per measuring for square footage. So I got 2 figuring on 2 coats of paint. When the can of paint is at 1/4 full the sprayer will not work. The depth of paint was not deep enough for the sprayer to suck up the paint. If I had know this I would have rigged up a narrow cylindrical vessel of some sort. My husband had to run out for another gallon of paint. There is a lot of wasted paint in the tube attached to the sprayer with your. Clean-up was surprisingly not bad.I only used less than 1/4 of the last can although I will roll over the areas that were scraped to bare wood. But if I were more familiar with the sprayer I am sure 2 gallons would have been enough. Still worth it. One spraying is really all that you need with the new paints. Home Depot suggested Glidden paint. They said it is made for spraying. It is significantly cheaper than most paints, too.

Your porch is beautiful, fantastic job! I love to paint, even the prep parts. Things are so clean and lovely after, it is worth every bit of the work. Have you taken the plastic down yet? Can't wait for the "after" pics!

Just touched it up and removed the plastic. White trim is next and then the floor.
