119 Trick or Treaters

Last evening we were robbed of our candy stash! We were attacked by so many zombies and then rescued by super heroes that we didn't get a moments peace . All in all every one of the kidoes were very polite and respectful. The most memorable younger boy was a 2 year old dressed as batman accompanied by his mother . Said "trick or treat please" , then said "thank you " while extended his hand to shake my hand. The most memorable boy was about 10 year old dressed in camo Marine uniform... very polite and after I gave him his candy, he gave me a S A L U T E and then said " Thank you, sir. " I SALUTED him right back and thanked him for his service. He gave me a HUGE smile, turned about face and left. For the first time, every boy and girl that showed up were backed up by at least 2 parents, but more often by 3-6 adults and older teenagers who stayed on the sidewalk. A GREAT time was had by one and all !!!!

Wow that is a lot of door answering. I was surprised how few Trick or Treaters this year. I think it might of had to do with the terrorist attack yesterday. Parents where playing it safe.

The numbers where about the same as last year. Only 3 door knocks. Handed out 9 treats! That is why I do not have candy treat here anymore. As all the leftovers would be mine to eat! BAD idea. It may have to do with a shift in where the homes with young children live. We only have one young family across the street, the rest live in the surrounding housing developments. I did not even get to see my grandson's costumes as My EX-DIL had them and did not bring them by.

After years of having none, the ringing of the doorbell almost startled us. There were two trick or treaters standing there, Dh told them to grab as much as they could with one hand but no double dipping. Back in the 90's we used to get 20-30 trick or treaters but then there were a lot of kids in the neighborhood. Poor Dh has to eat all the leftovers, but he's not complaining, I don't have a sweet tooth. Now if it was peanuts or any other kind of nut he'd have to arm wrestle me for them.

When we moved to our little town, we were used to 20-50 kids. So we had enough candy for 100-back then candy was cheap but we were broke. Had over 100 in first hour, so away to grocery store-that was picked over-to buy more. This little town gets into Holloween, next year, we were dressed up, turned stereo up loud with haunted music. Now live in country and NO trick/treaters. Miss that but don’t miss town life.

I only had 3 door knocks for a total of 4 . I think I had around 20 last year. All of my neighbors are older and don't participate so no one is going to cross a major street to get to 1 house, too much effort for a piece of candy. I think I will go trick or treating with my grandkids and their parents next year. Families and friends go in groups and they have lots of fun.
But then I would feel guilty that I wasn't home to give out candy for that 1 or 2 kids.

What a great idea to take your candy with you! I hope I remember it next year. You're going to have to remind me. haha

When I was in dollar store last month they had doggie costumes. I bought all they had, all groomings yesterday went home with 1. That $1 purchase made clients very happy. Last year after Christmas dollar store had Christmas ornament of dog holding a bone 3 for $1. My friend Kristina and I opened a bottle of wine and wrote Stonybrook pet spa on the bones in red marker. Will hand out this Christmas.
