@ducks4you, by tropical geraniums, are you talking about zonal geraniums, or maybe ivy geraniums? Oh, and those Martha Washington ones that I can kill. I am not familiar with the name tropical geraniums.

I love cat's whiskers.
What a minute, aren't those perennials o_O?

Okay then: gladiolas. We had 3 or maybe 4 volunteers that bloomed this year. I don't think there has ever been that many out of, say a 4' by 25' bed that has bloomed as over-wintering glads. So, if they have to be dug and replanted every year ...

I have always called Cleome, Cat's whiskers. Google tells me otherwise, though I have seen the name included on the seed packet of Cleome.

Zinnias, so many colors, shapes n sizes! I usually pick 3 different types and grow from seed. Have always started them in flats so I can throw them in between the perennials.

Yep, you are right, zonal geraniums or Pelargonium. I know about perennial geraniums, but have never grown them. Also, THEIR flowers are less showy.

Yep, zinnias ...

The red, that @Ridgerunner has 2nd from last. That color is characteristic of the better of the zinnia choices. Hey! This thread title says “favorite.”

And, do you pronounce it zeen ya or zin ee a ?

Favorite, yeah. I really really like that last one, the deep yellow. But how can you top that first one, the orange. Then I see that pink/purple on the bottom row. But that red is brilliant, even at a distance. Sometimes favorite is a concept hard to grasp.

I use "zeen ya" but I'll understand if I hear the other one.
