AH!!! I had totally forgotten about the tick jar!
We used a large pill bottle. There was sometime morbidly fascinating about all those nasty little buggers floating around in there.

@so lucky, we participated in the first National "Wilson's Creek" (MO) CW Reenactment in the late 1980's. There was an occluded front, it POURED all weekend, we bugged out Saturday evening ONLY bc our truck and trailer were parked on cement, and came home covered with ticks from the forested area where we camped. I am feeling for you.

Me too Carol Dee.
I got really sick from a tick bite about 38 years ago.
I had gone on a long brushy trail ride with a friend in an area where cattle were run.
My husband and I had a dinner to attend that evening that my MIL had made us commit to.

I got home much later than planned and only had time for a quick shower and change. No time to wash my hair. Big mistake. I had given my hair a hard brush out over the toilet before my shower though.
A tick had attached to my scalp unbeknownst to me. A week later I went for a haircut and when the stylist was drying my hair she mentioned that she had never noticed that mole on my head before. Ack! :sick  I was so embarrassed I just pulled it off.
I got fever and chills and when I asked my sister to look at it she said it had a red rash around it.
Mom made me go to a Dr. and he gave me tetracycline, and I got better. Dh was out of town during all this and I was too sick to do all the fun girl stuff I had planned. :(

I hate ticks too!

glad you recovered ok Thistle.

main reason i decided to bite the bullet this year on more fence. i just don't like deer ticks at all. will take more fence next year to finish up, but at least this should help... 2 deer ticks this season so far, i'm sure there will be more in area i have to work in this summer. every itch i have i now double check. ick...

@Carol Dee is ticked off by ticks...

The above convo is soooooo weird! Sometime this a.m., I dreamt that I was combing my very fine thin hair and found ticks! I couldn't go to CVS to get tick shampoo so I used Blue Dawn and let it sit on my hair for a while. Thousands of ticks jumped off and ran around the bathroom. VERY WEIRD DREAM! I just got goosebumps remembering details of those ticks in my dream!
