@thistlebloom - He was actually a really young male- I know he doesn't look like it! I called him "Spot" because if he would've been facing me, you could see a single shiny red dot on his throat. I can't find a forward photo of him off hand

Good to know HW! I wasn't aware that they didn't get their red throat plumage until they were mature. I wonder if that's true for other hummer species as well?

@thistlebloom - Here he is later in the year, at HIS feeder! The bush I photographed him on is where he hid in ambush and waited on others to come to the feeder.

We don't get Ruby Throated here. We have Rufous, Annas, Broad Tailed, Black Chinned and Calliope (my favorite).
