What are You Eating from the Garden?

$.50 per stalk? I gave away about $70 worth. Wish we had those prices here-might consider growing enough to sell as well as give away.

That's so cheap!!!! The only place to buy rhubarb around here is in the store, where it goes for around $4.75 per lb.

I wish folks were giving away more rhubarb....I LOVE it. Though I don't cook it like other folks but enjoy it skinned, raw and salted, straight from the garden.

Been eating asparagus, greens, pak choi, lettuce, radishes, green onions from the garden. Got strawberries and raspberries coming on but will be awhile yet.

A friend I don't get to see often stopped by yesterday for a visit.
At one point our conversation included morels and hunting them. They're in season now, and she and her young family have a regular (top secret!) hike they take to look for them.
I walked her out to her truck and as we passed the apple trees she spotted these growing under them!

I've never had morels before and it's such fun to have picked these from my own yard. They're on the menu tonight.
Anybody have a favorite way to prepare them?

Yum, those look much darker than the ones DH finds around our lot. Enjoy.

take any rinse water and scatter it around your place. in a few years you will have more if the conditions are good for them. :) yum! :)

Goggle for recipes. Can't help noticing your boo boo, haha.

Mary

I just prepared them.

Soak in salted water, drain, rinse, let dry.
Halve and toss in flour, saute in butter 3 to 4 minutes.
I wanted to see how they tasted without seasoning for the first time eating them.
My husband had a tiny sample and turned up his nose, so I get them all!
Delicious!

The boo boo is a broken finger. An equine related accident. ;)
