it rained most of yesterday - a long gentle soaker. well timed as i was just thinking i should water. normally it waits to rain until after i've watered. today will be a nice day about 80F and then it gets hot for part of this coming weekend/week. the nights have been cool though so that is nice.

since today is cool Mom is cooking some chili and baked spaghetti and not sure what else. we've been trying to get this baked spaghetti recipe for years and finally asked the right person who had it at the last family gathering so we're gonna try it out.

we're getting a break for the next week. only a few days into the low 80s. the next three nights are forecast in the low 50s. daytimes in the mid 70s and sunny.

we've had some rains the past few days so no need to water for now.

Looks pretty much like your weather here too! I am loving it. We did get some much needed rain but are still short. Rained a lot more AROUND us. But the rain barrel is about 3/4 full so that is good. (It was bone dry, too)

We are in that phase where the differences in heating up land and water gives us afternoon thunderstorms most days. They are typically scattered unless influenced by a front and I don't get a storm or shower every day. The Dew Points are still in the 70's so it's really humid, but all those showers often lower our highs to the lower 80's. High's and lows still affect us, a low is forecast to give us a lot of rain this week-end, but my feels like often don't top 100. Overnight lows are still in the upper 70's so new tomatoes aren't setting on but fells like in the mid to upper 90's are bearable. Just drink a lot of water and prepare to sweat.

Today was the first day that felt like fall was around the corner here; the last week or two has been mid 80s, with just enough humidity to make it very very uncomfortable. We had some rain earlier this week, and now that the puddles have dried up we are looking at mid 70s for the highs and lows in the upper 50s for the next ten days. I have such a giant list to work on now that I can work outside after work I don't know where to start!

yes, between harvesting and putting things up and working on projects that have been waiting for it to cool down a bit this is the busiest time of the season until the frosts hit and the ground starts freezing.

The days are becoming shorter!

Sunrise at 6am!?

Hey, I don't mind that it is dark at 8pm but that's me. Dark until 6, less than 14 hours of daylight? Less and less, later and later. Oh, the burden of darkness.

Hey, I'm gonna search out an indoor place for winter walks. Just gotta ... oh good, the dull sameness of mall hallways or circling a basketball court.

Just gotta - many probably look on my gait as that of a hobbling old man. Perish the thought that they should see me rise from too many hours on the horizontal to achieve the nearly-vertical and "walk."

It is still being unseasonably warm here; low to mid 90s and very dry, but the nights are cooler than they have been. Heat index on my backyard weather station triple digits every day this week. Heat is supposed to break this weekend, then the highs will be under 80...I can't wait!
