Once i get the seeds off the rack Im currently using, Im going to buy 3 high bays and build another rack, probably more like the metal roll around storage shelves. This will be a more permanent grow rack, and more than likely Ill have more than 1. Appreciate all the good info guys!

Been real busy lately, to many irons in the fire right now. Anyway, gardens are ready for planting. I did get my cabbage in the ground on Friday. busted everything up again yesterday, even laid off the rows for my peas. I need to go through the big garden again with the disc and get what little bit of weeds that are left turned under. Me and mini me worked on the new chicken coop run Thursday, just about done with that, here is a short video of the progress so far.....

Spent some time up potting my peppers and tomatoes last night. Going to give them a good shot of gogo juice here in a day or two. Major looks like i didn't burn up all the highlanders and will have some in the pepper garden this year Lol. Forecast has it looking good this weekend for planting peas, beans, corn, cucumbers and some squash and Zucchini. I got some zucchini and squash starts that have to go in the ground this week. Looks like it will be another week or two for tomato and peppers.

@majorcatfish what you think about planting purple hull peas in a double row on a 30" bed? I want to utilize as much space as I can but im still thinking of irrigating with the overhead wobblers down the center of 4 rows. So in reality I'll have 8 rows of peas in 4 rows......Thoughts?

Have you grown Purple Hulls before? I treat mine as a bush and do not trellis or support in any way. Those suckers spread out about three feet on all sides of the rows and I have to keep turning runners back toward the center. Those things create a jungle. They are very productive for me.

Are you talking about a raised bed 30" wide with two rows of Purple Hulls planted down the length? Sounds good to me. When I was planting them in my "regular" garden (not in raised beds) I'd plant maybe one 15' row but that row would be a double row 12" apart. I'd leave at leas 4' clear on all sides for them to spread. We ate a lot fresh and I froze a lot for winter feasting.

How far apart are you planning between your double rows?

I have grown plenty, I used the term bed, but its more like a wide row. My rows are 110' long so no raised bed there Lol. Anyway currently where I want to plant my purple hulls, I can get 5 rows that are 36" apart, but for irrigation purposes, I was thinking of doing 4 wide double rows with overhead irrigation down the center. I can still get them 36" apart but will only get 4 rows.

The current rows I layed off start @ 2:20 of this video, if i take the center row out, I can finagle the other 4 and make some wide rows and plant them double. I can make a 40" row with my hillers but i have to add the middle break bar to level them off. Im more worried about them shading each other out, but like you said they grow all over. i know I've had some get 3' tall and cover so much you couldn't tell where the rows were.
