It is disheartening to see so many people with mobility problems trying to carry around an excess 60, 80, 100 pounds. It gives one pause to imagine the life they must lead to put on so much weight and now with the problems associated.

Masks? I did some counting while waiting for DW at the soopermarket about two weeks ago. Just short of half of the people coming out of the store were wearing masks. The sample size was 50 people before we drove off.

I wasn't sure how I felt about this. Something discouraging was that only 4 small children were in this number. Two mothers, 4 children -- Not one of them was wearing a mask.

A couple of days ago, we were at a farm store. I wasn't waiting nearly as long and there weren't as many customers. Fewer than half of them were unmasked! It may have reflected the average age. Seems like a respectful thing, to wear a mask.

That's my attitude. A homemade cloth mask offers me a little protection but not that much. What it does is offer other people a lot of protection from me. So yes, to me wearing a mask is showing respect for other people.

i think the more accurate way of putting this would be "processed foods with a lot of additives to help preserve them and keep them from spoiling." as if i count the food here as both cheap and it does have a shelf life of several years (if canned properly) so that isn't true of things here... just noodling a bit in this post @baymule :)
You’re really bored, ain’t cha’? LOL

Are masks optional or mandatory? Over here they are only mandatory in public transport but not for shopping. The only public transport I use is a 15 minute ferry with my bicycle. I've used it twice since March and worked from home the rest of the time. Gotta say I've loved working from home and regret we're starting back at the office next week. Will still be working one day at home fortunately. I was glad to have a renewal of my contract for another year.

Mandatory? No really, yet some stores do require you put one on to shop there. Seems to be up to the business. I am more comfortable wearing one in public, as Ridgerunner stated. As an act of kindness, heaven forbid I be contagious and not know and give it to someone else :(

Kind of depends on where you are. Each state sets its own rules. Some cities have their own. Some stores say they require masks but many only recommend you wear one, Many businesses require their workers to wear a mask at all times, others only when they are with customers.

in Michigan they are currently mandatory by law if you are in an enclosed public space. the number of cases detected has been falling recently so they are letting more things open up with some restrictions on distance and masks being required. outdoor activities pretty much all ok now as long as distance can be kept. the only outdoor things that have not been reopened are the sporting events where people would be packed closely together on the stands.

next week they reopen restaurants with some restrictions on seating capacity and distance and i think they're going to require that the waitstaff have masks. this can change though...

Texas is moving to 50% occupancy in restaurants and opening up more. At the grocery stores and Walmart, someone has a tablet adding numbers as people come in, subtracting numbers as people leave, to comply with the occupancy laws.
