Succotash

( I think it's a miracle I got so many of these guys, either it doesn't like high heat or it is a very late maturity variety)

It does have a very long DTM. I grew it here twice, both times only a few pods were able to ripen before frost. The shellies proved to be very hard to shell & their taste wasn't worth the effort, so the majority of the pods were left to freeze. An interesting & unique bean, but I won't grow it again.

don't worry, you'll figure it out eventually. :) the switching over to the BB Code helps find out what is happening and where strange things are at that can then be edited out or changed if they're not wanted/needed. when in the regular view sometimes it isn't always easy to see what you have selected for editing and the view may also be confused if the formatting isn't done right so the only way to really get some things done is either to use the BB Code edit or to start all over from scratch. which is, um, ick. :)

do you have a computer screen to work with, a larger view is always more help too IMO. as i get older the bigger view is very welcome.

I appreciate your patience flowerbug :) The honest truth is, until my son started online learning because of these 'changes in the world' my home didn't even have a wifi signal, nor a computer. True story. We had really tried to limit our kid's internet exposure, since they were getting lots of it in the school anyway. We kept a busy after school schedule and family life that sort of made it a non-issue; but since this September, with online schooling, I've been able to occasionally hijack his Chromebook, that's it. I have never been on social media in my life! So it's really a learning curve for me, in many ways, though this emoji doesn't quite sum me up agewise:old...not yet anyway......

I'm so glad to know that, I've never grown this guy before. I managed to harvest a good crop ONLY because I dragged and yanked for dear life all the vines off the trellis pre-frost (yes - total crazy) which took much effort on my part and then dried them inside my house on large wire tomato cages. It worked but I swept drying bean leaves from the floor for days. I haven't eaten any yet, since after all that work, I kinda just want to put them in a vase and stare at them instead. :) Probably not gonna grow him again either. Maybe I'll frame them...

you're doing fine with me then! for sure! i've only been doing this sort of thing since the late 70s and i still get screwed up in various ways and i have a degree in computer science and half a master's degree. :) my excuse though is that i was taught old school and the internet came along right about the time i retired from my first round of computer fiddling and since then i've only done some things for the fun of it and rarely for a job or in depth. now it is more social for me than programming or dealing with web-sites.

Your probably a good person to ask the following question then? Why is it that when people make a post referencing another person that persons' name comes up highlighted in green, what are people doing to achieve that?

that is a part of the formatting in the quoting mechanism and then the part of the editing program which is displaying it that ways.

if i switch over to BB Code view of that same thing the chunk looks like:

[QU OTE="heirloomgal, post: 378636, member: 8087"]

but the QU OTE is QUOTE i just had to change it to get it to show up as text for you.

if you want to reference a poster directly in your typing just put an @ sign in front of their handle name and then the program will know it is a reference to that person and set it up for you in your post. :)

Pulling vines pre-frost to save beans? You will find as you read more posts here, doing that is not crazy - it's just good practice. Welcome to the asylum!
