Hottest weekend of the year so far right now, and my ac has been broken for a week. Part to fix it comes in Monday, but the whole house is droopy and tempers are getting short. 95 yesterday, 90 today, 90 tomorrow. Lows in the lower 70s, and they have taken the rain that was supposed to break the heat out of the forecast. By tuesday the highs are in the lower 80s and the lows are in the 50s, but that's not going to help me now!

Needless to say, not a lot of garden work going on, those cool mornings I am going to go out and pull weeds.

no fans? :(

finally a break in the heat coming up this week! in the forecast the highest temperatures are 83F and the lowest is 75F. three whole days forecast in the 70sF! i should be able to get caught up on some projects and rest up my back some now that most of the planting is finished. weeding of course will be needed but the gardens are mostly under some sort of control now.

The Big Exhaust fan is on in South Window, kitchen window open, and doors open/closed to allow outside air to circulate through entire house.

Temperatures over the last 12 hours at nearest airport: 92°f (33°C) and now 62° (17°C).

On the f scale, the highs and lows both jumped 20° in 2 days, with the 30° between afternoons and mornings. The ups and downs are common here. It limits plant growth (but those tender melons still look okay).

Temps are spiking back into the 90s today and the rain moved on. We ended up with about 2.5 inches total. Not much since it rained near constantly this past week. The extra sun is good since it will speed up some of the stunted plants.

DELUGE Saturday night. TWC said 3 inches, but the 3 buckets I left out were 8 inches full of water from bone dry. My large wheelbarrow was 1/2 full of water. Town had flash flooding, VERY unusual for June.
Yesterday I emptied all 3 buckets onto my 16 beefsteak tomatoes in the ground. I am trying to water in the evening.

Sorry to leave a laughing face response. But your post was humorous ;) UGH way to hot and steamy for me and I live in a very humid part of the mid-west. I am NOT a fan of Summer.

There was rain.

Between overnight and midday showers, 61/100" of an inch of rain fell. Yay!

The Weather Service says that it was the wettest day since January 12. If we pick up another 1/4", this will be put us at a "normal" June.

My recent behavior was a reflection of hopes. Monday night, I had real trouble drifting off to sleep despite knowing that the rain was not supposed to arrive before the middle of the night. The offline status of the Pendleton radar kept me checking the map and saying, "where is this rain? Where?!" About the time it began to fall, I drifted off to sleep.

Yesterday, it was the same deal with me anxiously checking to the south and seeing a very incomplete picture on the radar map. Finally, the sky darkened and rain began to fall. Again, I drifted off to sleep, this time, looking out the window.

Although there are things to do here at home, I suspect that we will be driven to go out to see and tend things in the big veggie garden by afternoon. We can share the experience with the plants :). The morning temperature was 48°f (9° C) but we have windows open. The moist air is very pleasant.
