Your Weather, 2024

High winds knocked the power out at 9:30am. Now the sun is sinking below the horizon so it will be cold and dark as well. Fingers crossed that the crews get us online again soon. I have three jackets and a scarf on so I am quite cosy.

hope it comes back soon! we converted our wood burning fireplace to be able to burn propane because once in a while we have events like that here and we don't want to burn wood anyways so this way we won't freeze to death as it requires nothing more than a match to get it going. we've had to use it about half a dozen times so far.

I have a propane heater in addition to the central heat. It sure saves on the electric bill, plus power outages are frequent.

Maybe you could look into a propane heater with one of those camper tanks.

I hope your power comes on soon. It’s no fun to be cold in the dark. :hugs

We were able to convince my elderly parents to make a fire in their wood stove for heat, and then a kind neighbour with a generator ran them a cable so they have light now as well. They ordered in Chinese food, and we got invited to their place for supper. Then as I was typing this the power came back on. Yay! You sure appreciate electricity when you don't have it for awhile.

Recently I bought an electric fireplace and it arrived yesterday-- so now we can plug that in at least. 😀

It was raining when I got up this morning. It didn't amount to much but the temperature was above freezing! I waited until this afternoon and did some checking.

Officially, it will be the first morning in nearly 3 weeks that it didn't freeze overnight. The high temperature for the day was 47°f (8°C) the warmest since 14 November! This won't be very close to the record high but it was almost warmest minimum temperature for the date.

Monday has a 90% chance of snow.

With some sunbreaks today, a couple of them lasting more than a few minutes, it was noted that a 6 foot object had a 210 inch shadow at high noon.

We had really high winds here with gusts up to 50 knots and some rain too. Not a great day to be outside!
