Have you ever used a heat mat?

I would think something like this would work. http://www.amazon.com/Oceanic-09939-Terrarium-24-Watt-18-Inch/dp/tech-data/B002Z5O9IW You should google large reptile heating pad. Should be able to get something cheap.

    Watermelon Fail

I planted two starts that I picked up at the local garden center here in late may just for the heck of it. I planted them in my strawberry pyramid since they didn't seem to do doing so well this year. This was the end result. I ended up with a total of about 30 mellons all averaging about...

I know I'm a little late to the party Lesa but do a Google search for " Joe's ancient orange mead" It's a quick mead that is perfect at about six weeks. Tastes fantastic. Also you can do staggered nutrient additions and get a good semi-sweet mead in a couple of months. Lots of great info and...

    What's happened to my tomatoes?

I pickled cukes and cauliflower for the first time yesterday and they came out the same way. I was pretty surprised thinking I jammed the jars pretty full. I guess I'll try the hot pack method next time. I still have some jalapenos and half a head of cauliflower left to pickle.
