Various recipes for fresh ginger tea

if you do harvest them they may have bugs in them... how i learned this was when i harvested some here from along a trail in the park. i put the rose hips in a plastic film cannister and then set it on the shelf with a bunch of others and forgot about it for a bit. sometime later i was going by and noticed there were all these bugs in it moving around as they'd hatched. good thing i didn't leave them in an open container...

If you had eaten them, that would've been extra protein!

... there may be a Summertime drink for you at the Asian market. Maybe you have a Caribbean market in your neighborhood. Jamaicans must appreciate that same hot pepper and ginger and sell a bottled drink for your hot time of the year.

Steve, who wishes that bottled ginger ale had more ginger flavor and that he could find the lemon verbena drink people enjoy in S America to try

I never harvested my rose hips. Long cold wet rainy winters here caused them to spoil. Does anybody here think it's too late?
It is way too late here . The long cold wet winters cause them to spoil. But you could always harvest a few and cut them open see what you think . if they are still firm not shriveled and red they should be ok.

The only time I harvest my rose hips is in the fall not for tea but the are full of vitC . And I mix them in the animals feed. The horses eat them freshly harvested like berries. I’ve never been brave enough to make tea , I’m not sure what type of rose hips are good for teas. I’ll have to do more research first.
