    We only received a sprinkle of rain yesterday...BUT today it's been drizzling all day. I went ahead and made two loaves of zucchini bread and some dill and bread&butter pickles. Great day for that!

    I got a little bit of rain this morning and looks like its been raining all around us today. I've been busy insulating the chicken coop. (16' x 13') They should have a nice warm place to play this winter. My tomatoes, well a few of them should be ready to pick tomorrow. :celebrate Swampducks...

    :caf I see it's been awhile since anyone has been on here..... Garden is still doing good :) The pumpkins are turning orange already :ep Seems to be quite a bit early to me.... I have zucchini enough now to feed a small army it seems. Been giving it to anyone who comes over if they want it...

    With all the sand I have here we add all kinds of dirts and manures. As a matter of fact we have a large pile of swamp dirt to add this fall. I've been outside tonight picking wild black berries. Been doing pretty good to for free...2&1/2 qt freeaer bags full already :)

    Its a mix that many use for fish and chicken. It comes in a powder form, like flour. Directions call for you to mix with egg and milk I think :/ I've always just dipped whatever in egg then in the dry mix and fry. Maybe they don't sell it everywhere?????

    :drool sweet corn......can't wait for some. At least the grass doesn't crunch to loud here now, but I don't see mowing it in its near future. I'm thinking about butchering a few roos here soon to. While its somewhat cool out yet. Do you take the skin off or did you pluck the feathers?

    I just made some deep fried cheese filled zucchinni blossoms. I put mozzerella cheese in them and rolled in a whipped egg, then in some dry Drake mix. They are the best! Now I can see why some people just grow the squash for the blossoms.

    I think we got most of that rain yesterday that you said hit north, Swampducks. It also misted off and on all morning today. Our pig area outside and in the barn flooded with about and inch and a half on the cement. Came right in threw the door that the pigs use. Never happened before...

    We've got a coon! DH is setting the live trap tonight. Two roosters dead :( He found the hole that they or it got into the rooster coop at. I'm hopeing that if they find they can't get into the rooster coop that they don't go and explore the new hen coop. Its pretty secure but...

    Processed some green beans and pickled beets. Also some summer squash. Anyone ever canned summer squash before? I'm hopeing it'll be better then freezing it.
