Well, due to weed an frost issues we are doing a lot more potted vegetables, rather than directly in our garden. They were in a mini-greenhouse setup on the porch all spring, and we're just moving some out to the garden--watermelon, and something else which I forgot...

We used to have a "squirrel proof" bird feeder. Turns out it was only effective on undetermined squirrels--we saw several get in with some effort and logic!
We keep the receipt to everything...if it is something small we keep it on the fridge for a week or two, if it is a major item, especially with a warrenty.
Good for you for sending the roo to freezer camp! Broodies do tend to not eat to the point of making themselves sick, and I would get her off the nest and see if she "Wakes up" , realizes she's hungry, and eats before returning to the nest.

As a beginning gardener, I sometimes can't tell what is a carrot and what is that pesky look-alike weed, what is a cilantro sprout, and what is a weed sprout. Are there any genral rules of thumb that can tell me what is what? Thanks!
