Well, if there are enough of these, and no one else wants to take them, I've offered to grow the following from the P-List

• Etna
• Dalmatin
• Trevio Nun

And one other from the Network

• Potawtomi

Of course, there were 10 others that I had rough draft listed, but no, I can grow four for sure, not committing myself to anything other than that. I feel like a Pokémon sometimes, Gotta catch 'em all!

When I named Karachaganak I thought it was the Kazakh word for dragon. Now I'm not sure, it may be the name of a specific dragon in a Kazakh legend. Or I may totally be off base as to the meaning.

The main thing is that the name is original and sounds great.

I thought Potawatomi was going to be the yield king because the Potawatomi Indians were active in my region. But wet growing season held it back. Still a good looking bean pattern though.

@Boilergardener I want to grow mainly because I supposedly have a Potawatomi ancestor 9 or 10 generations back. A friend says it must be true as I'm not claiming Cherokee ancestry.

Is it bad form to offer bean seeds to others here?

Also, would someone point me to info on freezing dried seed? Should they go into vacuum sealed jars? Zip-locked baggies, in or out of a jar? Not sure if the seeds should be treated special in any way.

I thought Potawatomi was going to be the yield king because the Potawatomi Indians were active in my region. But wet growing season held it back. Still a good looking bean pattern though.

This bean might also react easily to the opposite condition of not enough water. The seed of this bean that was turned into me late last year was very shiriveled, not filled out, which would be an indication of water stress. This also drops the germination rate of the seed. I hope Jack Holloway can bring about a good seed crop of Potawatomi. Beans need enough water after they bloom and start forming pods to produce their seed. I would say probably 1.5 inches every 7 days.

A few beans that immdiately come to mind that seem to water stress fairly easily are Dlouha Pulena Ze Smolijanu, Fagiolo Viola Di Assiago, and Hiawatha.

Russ listed his 1x2 strip idea in the previous years thread, i cant remember what page but fairly far back. I have been using old Cattle panels im guessing are 4- 5 foot tall, but that just isnt enough for some of the pole beans it doesnt allow them to grow to their potential. I went and bought the 1x2 inch "strips" and i will try to stick them in deep enough they can handle the weight of 3-4 plants around each pole. Another person on here cut tall saplings and uses those ehich is a good idea. I may also ziptie a few 1x2 strips to the cattle panels I had them left over from 4- H a pig pens, also was nice to reuse them.
