Your photo looks like true bush growth for sure.
I lifted that photo from a website that sells that bean, can't remember the name of it, but I got lucky that they had a photo of a bed of them. Not a super common thing to see on a seed website! Well, it's good to know there won't be any surprises.

Love the combination of speckles and uneven blotch around the eye on the Centerville Special. I think that hilum pattern is quite unique

Victoria Brown Eyes has some form of that but the shape of the bean is different (the color is also different :) ).

i've grown VBE a few different times and it seems like it would do better in a cooler climate with a longer season. one of the larger seeded varieties that don't always do so great here, but they were productive enough when i did grow them.

Centerville Special - Bush Dry. Something that I have been working with for a few years. It too didn't like the weather or location. Centerville the orlginal name of the town of Woodstock, Illinois where I live. Better Luck next time Centerville Special !

I agree with @Triffid . Centerville Special is a lovely bean. I really like the tiny dots all over the seed coat. So this year I will be sowing @flowerbug's Spotted Pheasant again.

@Blue-Jay
Is the Centerville Special part of the Robert Lobitz Legacy series?
