The Pileated Woodpeckers have just arrived back here. They sound just like carpenters nailing nails.

Pileated Woodpeckers live here all year. They are awesome looking woodpeckers and I love to hear their cry. Don't see them very often here in town, especially since most of the giant oaks around the house have died. We did have 6 huge oaks 100+ years old, but sadly, they are gone.
