Growing as much as you can is the way to go. The less that comes in form the outside the better.

Hennible! I would agree that GMOs may have some benefits, thing is -
1. They're everywhere.
2. We're using biotechnology for the wrong reasons and in the wrong ways. We're also drastically over-using it. To explain my reasoning behind this I would have to write a book which I don't have time for right now (But that's not a bad idea - maybe I'll actually get around to writing a fully-fledged book one of these days!).
I do think that they should be restricted to particular areas - like research stations in Antarctica and outer space. Genetics are not something that we were really meant to be toying with, human knowledge can only go so far before it goes too far - again, when it comes to "toying" I'm talking about the transfer of DNA from one organism to the genome of another completely unrelated species, and NOT selective breeding.

GMO plants produce an herbicide or are made to tolerate dangerous chemicals being sprayed on them. These chemicals and herbicides when present in or on food plants transfer/gather in living tissue and cause cells to mutate.

GMOs could be made to be sterile, instead of being able to cross pollinate with non GMO crops. Then every one would be happy. The farmers are not allowed to save their seed, but must buy new seed every year.

I think of that each an every time I walk out and see the huge cornfields all over the place. Thing is that Monsanto and their affiliates aren't interested in what the general public wants, what they're interested in is money.
I would personally be more than happy if I could grow my own corn and save uncontaminated seed from it, and I'm sure that many others would be to. In the mean time I'm working on breeding an early strain of corn for people in the same situation. I'm using super-early varieties like Yukon Chief and Tohono O'odham 60-Day, along with varieties of popcorn that have a special gene (Ga1 I think it's called) that makes them less likely to cross with other corns. It's going to take years and I'll probably have to use the work of breeders before me... but eventually.

When one does not believe in science but rely on wanna be 's emotional theories as the truth, well science is still there to actually prove the truth or otherwise. 
Any experiment with a certain result may or may not be correct and any self respecting scientist is always skeptical of first findings. Now if the results can be confirmed by multiple other scientists in multiple double and triple blind studies, then the original theory can become accepted as valid 
or was a false positive.
