NEVER, EVER throw flour on a fire. And NEVER, EVER use water either.

Did the cookies and bread smell or taste smokey?

I too thought pyrex was oven safe.

Hey, Buddy, the flour put the fire right out! :old There wasn't much grease and it wasn't a huge fire, just flames and I didn't think I should let it burn itself out.

Nope, they tasted fine. Cookies and bread all eaten up. I thought pyrex was oven safe, too, but not for the abuse that I gave it.

I keep a couple of boxes of baking soda handy in case of a grease fire, only had to use this once when I had a flame up on the Jen air grill, worked like a charm.

Also have a fire extinguisher just outside the door
