We've had a few days of fog. It just appears from nowhere

Fog is lifting. Supposed to rain some more today. Too wet to do anything outside, I am bored. I might go to Nacogdoches today just to get out of here. There’s a health store there I’ve been wanting to go to. I need some vitamins. I’m a big believer in vitamins and minerals.

so when's the pond and uplifting aka better drainage program gonna start?

i'll enjoy brainstorming about it.
here's a quick version to ponder... (pun sort of intended )...
there's some good things you could do with shallow wetlands to help filter any run-off some before it gets off the property. basically what you want to do is capture as much as you can as shallow as you can so it soaks in and is dry within a day or two so you don't get mosquitoes and attract water creatures, but you still get the soaking in and nutrient capture from all the sheepie doodles running off. if you do it in steps you can run it through a few layers and the water should be in pretty good shape...

Same here fog and marine layer is slowly lifting . It’s 1:45 pm and lots of soggy realestate and a pond is forming in the south pasture. A good place to clear the mud off the tractor tires.
Windy the last few days been out picking up tree limbs some small others large enough to haul with the tractor to the non-burn pile.
Still no signs of ground squirrels, gophers, voles, and moles. It seems I have taken up mowing mushrooms now. Lots of mushrooms , fields of mushrooms popping up where the underground critters lived. Yeap the oddities of nature. Never had that task before. See what happens when of all those under ground critters that feast on our gardens are eliminated. Mushrooms growing in every size and color over the critters tunnels and over the old latrines. Now that’s where the fairy rings come round in some area.
Now mowed all clear and clean grass pastures now , no poisonous weeds or odd bumps in the road. A few flags put down to mark questionable spots. I have vowed to not allow any more destructive critters on or around the pastures. Get ‘em the minute they start tunnels with traps. So it’s an every day patrol over the entire area.
Keeping a close eye on everything helps to maintain a healthy pasture for the horses.

I hope you are/were out of the way of the storm that is passing through today.
I have a question. I have read in your previous posts that you do fecal on your sheep for parasites.
I have goats and I don't trust the Famacha test and hate to just medicate them if they don't need it and make the resistance to meds worse.
Could you possibly tell me how you do the fecal? Or link a video that was helpful? Any resources will be greatly appreciated!
What supplies I need? I have a microscope and slides.
I have two does I'm milking and between them there are 3 little kids they are also feeding. They are starting to look too skinny. I did worm them based on the Famacha few weeks ago.

I already have two ponds. Elevation on the farm is flat, flat and more flat. Elevation is 330 feet. There are slightly higher and slightly lower areas around me, but for the most part, fairly flat. The soil is a loam, mixture of sand and clay. Water soaks in well until it rains so much that ground is saturated. Crawdads holes help water sink in. There are several lower spots that capture that water, which keeps the grass greener a little longer in drought. Overall I’m satisfied with how the land responds to rain. But at some point, like now, both ponds are full, water flows in and right back out, soil is saturated and can’t hold any more.so when's the pond and uplifting aka better drainage program gonna start?

Weather app is showing a week of sunshine. It will go a long way to drying up around here.
I could go out now and dig a post hole and it would fill up with water. The water table is high here. The end of March, 2023, neighbors and I put up the fence between us. That field is one of those lower spots. We dug post holes and struck water 2 feet down. For the 8”x8’ treated wood posts, we needed between 3an4 feet in the ground. We dug the holes, let them sit a couple of days, then set the posts. The posts wiggled like jello. We had to wait several more days for the packed dirt to harden up enough to roll out the wire.
T-posts were wiggling too. Summertime heat and drought and those posts are like being set in concrete.
