Hey @lcertuche - I agree with this! My husband won't have any other pickles with a meal but the ones we have made from our cucumbers. Nothing can compare to growing and canning your own.

I think my pickles taste pretty much like any pickles but the family swears mine taste better than storebought.

A pickle needs to be crunchy, store bought can be like a wet noodle.

Mom would always try to make dills but they would be soft. Give me store bought dills. Although fresh dill are OK.

I have had the same experience. I gave up trying to make them. Always came out limp/soggy.

@seedcorn I finally have ripe tomatoes! This must be the latest I've ever had ripe tomatoes, but the avalanche has commenced.

They are small, but I we'll sure eat 'em! We had fried green tomatoes for the third time tonight.
