California: Driest Calendar Year On Record!

Yikes Marshall, the pictures really drive home how dry it's been in your neck of the woods. :/

Wow, there aren't much left of those lakes! :/

Hopefully you Californians will get some heavy rain before the lakes completely disappear! Lakes need fish, and fish need water!

<<< Is organizing never mind a rain dance, a FLOOD DANCE.

I'm sorry that the chance of immediate rain seems to have evaporated, Marshall.

I also read the article from about a month ago (there in the side-bar). It is good that they are trying to stay ahead on this. Nothing was said about agriculture, tho'!

Here, 2013 was down about 30% for precipitation but that deficit was nearly your total!! Another thing we've had going is snowstorms moving into the mountains from Canada. Dry at low elevations, near normal higher.

California water recreation may take a hit.

Wow! that is very cool. Too bad it has to be due to the decline of the water supply. Like the guy said, it has to rain sometime!
Mary, that's pretty close to you. Why don't you go and take pictures for us? ;)

Yep, saw it all - diggings played out.

Nuthin left but siftin thru the tailings along the Rogue. Might as well pull up stakes and head back to the farm. Family's gotta eat!

my "predictive" text shor don't like me ritin like this!

It rained yesterday. Actually made puddles.

It'll need to rain like that for 40 days and 40 nights straight before these lakes will fill up.

I estimate the old town of Hullville will begin to appear soon.
