no need to blanch , just rinse off and freeze , what I do when I thaw them is have a bowl of hot water stick them in it while still froze , only for a min or 2 that way just the skin thaws out and the skin pops right off while the inside is still hard, for cherry tomatoes and pear tomatoes I take them from the freezer and throw them skins and all right in the pot , makes for great chili , goulash or even stir fry
