Kix and Honeynut Cheerios in the bowl with a sliced banana. A very nice combination — corn Kix, oat Cheerios. A favorite :).

I may need a measure of solace over the next couple of days. The weather may not happen as predicted – altho little moisture was promised. Our cloudy, rainy days are certainly cloudy but the sprinkles haven't amounted to much. A 90% chance of rain today? I'm looking at the radar map and wondering where it is coming from ...?

There is some chance that the mountains have or will gain some snow. That would be great and, hopefully, heralds a good snow season and replenishment of lakes, rivers and aquifers :). With record dryness, if clouds, sprinkles and wind just bring frigid temperatures, it will be disappointing. I suppose that I can make use of the days with garden clean-up. Sure. Easing into Winter, none of that having kids out trick or treating in the snow — that would be okay. Patience.

@Gardening with Rabbits it is October 9, how are you? Your appointment was October 1, praying for the best for you!
I saw the surgeon on the 1st and I liked what he said. DD pushed hard for me to go get a referral to Spokane for the robotic. I had to have dental clearance foe either procedure, so I made the appointment for Spokane on the 21st. I had to have teeth cleaning done and then the other day I had 2 teeth pulled. I have to wait 2 weeks after the teeth pulling to have any procedure.

I have been reading a lot about both kinds of surgery. I will see what the surgeon says on the 21st and then make up my mind Thank you for asking. I am doing pretty good. I get tired easy.

Ice-covered landscape. @heirloomgal and @Marie2020 having back problems has me thinking about being a  prime example and, perhaps a worthy one for this advice: Avoid.

How one might avoid the damage to the sciatic nerve, I'm not really sure. I can suggest that strenuous physical effort must be avoided. But, continuing movement has always seemed helpful.

HeirloomGal harvesting sunchokes and replanting today has me concerned. I know that they are not of great depth but just the bending should be plenty enough movement and shouldn't continue over too long a time.

During neurological tests, I was asked if I had ever broken my left knee. No. When I mentioned that question to my orthopedic surgeon, he assured me that the problem was my back. He did not want to do surgery on me because of my history of rheumatoid arthritis. Another neurologist said that he could stop the pain by cutting nerves but do nothing about restoring movement.

Continuing an active life, but at my own pace, was probably of benefit. Movement was one thing. Challenging my strength and endurance was something different.
