I use thyme the most and grow it. (You did say herb, singular.)
Mary
I was nearly entangled in all the choices
I'd have said thyme also, pre-DW. It isn't that she dislikes thyme and sage but she isn't, at all, inclined to use them.
Basil. That's my answer. We are having salmon today and it is a little disappointing to not have lemon basil big enuf to put on it. Rosemary is on it and I'm not about to complain about that
Basil. Thai basil for pho soup. I'm not sure about a substitute. It would be something else.
Basil. Large-leaf. Anything with tomato sauce in it.
DW likes pesto. It isn't that I dislike it - wonderful flavor! But, does anyone eat the Thai basil in pho? It wouldn't be me! I want to taste it but I pull the basil out of the tomato sauce, etc.
