Researchers at the National Cancer Institute found that COVID-19 was the third leading cause of death in the U.S. between March 2020 and October 2021 That was one in every eight deaths.

Between January and October 2021, the pandemic disease was the leading cause of death among people 45 to 54 years old.

COVID deaths were higher than accidental deaths and deaths from strokes.

the newer variant is causing some more cases and the deaths are not as many, but it still a lot of extra people who may have lived a bit longer otherwise. all sad to me. i've been so busy with other things the past few months i've not been checking the stats much but i do check the news here or there for a few minutes (but i don't do much in depth) just to make sure newer variants don't catch me by surprise if they're indicated to be more dangerous.

Covid is going like wild fire around here. Just one example my neighbour went too a wedding and 17 people came down with covid
