Got sworn in as Mayor last night.
Just when 2 board members decided to argue the validity of having our atty at our meetings--she was out of town yesterday--the richest guy in town filled out public comment and announced that he wanted to be 1/2 of the new trustees I need to fill the board!
I told him that we have been trying for YEARS to get him on the board.
I think I exclaimed, "HOT DOG!!"
So, pretty good meeting.
Gotta keep your expectations LOW. Like the binders I provided, ALL cleaned out from classwork I had taken, and ALL paperwork (current ordinances) printed at home, only ONE Trustee said, "Thank You."
I expected that, so, no worries.
I do this to keep my AG2 zoning in town and to keep us able to get our town's water from 1/2 mile away, instead of being forced to buy it and have it come in pipes 45 miles away.
Gotta stay focused!

Just bought this for eldest DD for her birthday, which is May 31st, but I think I will give it to her early.
a_-_1_12_500x.jpg

It is hand polished and manufactured in Charleston, SC, so American made.
Most of the cheaper ones are shipped from China.
When we did CW Reenacting we used Cast iron cookware, many skillets and a dutch oven, but it was really cheap back then, although probably came from China then, too.
We still have these stored in the Lodge in a cabinet next to the tractor.
NONE ever had a polished surface.
I also bought her the chainmail scrubber (free with a coupon code)
seasoning oil (we used to cook bacon in ours to season them) DD likes to do things right, so she will appreciate it
and the accompanying glass lid, which her sister told me she would REALLY want even though THEY buy it from China, :sick:sick:sick

A cheaper alternative is from Lodge (Williams-Sonoma), ALSO American made.
Cast iron is the original non stick cookware.
Funny, a friend had a cast iron skillet and it rusted...AAAAANNNND she threw it away.:eek::eek:
Can't fix NOW, but I told her that she could have taken an SOS pad to it to clean the rust, rinsed well and dried with a cloth and then used shortening to reseason, good as new and non stick again.
Just so you know, I would buy Canadian made, British made, German made ANY DAY OF THE WEEK over Chinese made.

Today was first tomato up potting transplant day!!
DD is coming with family for a visit, so 6 baby tomatoes are in six 3 inch pots, sitting in water in a tray on top of a baby chick warmer and under a pink gro light until tomorrow.
First I used a long handled teaspoon to dig them all out.
Then, I carefully placed them in 2 large yogurt containers for transport to the basement shelving unit.
I filled in potting soil about an inch or so at the bottom or each 3 inch square pot, then gently nestled them in, backfilled with more potting soil, soaked under the basement sink (with the old red countertop,) placed on a plastic tray and put an inch water in the tray. She will take them tomorrow.
I pulled out 2 extras, which will be, "Cross your fingers", transplanted each to a smaller round pot, put in trays and gave them water. They are in one of my fish tanks, each of which has a heat mat underneath and a gro light abovec.
