Guess your lifestyle frees you up to move to Mars!

except there's a good chance they'll be living off kale, sweet potatoes and perhaps potatoes and some other things, but i imagine the first rounds of settlers on Mars are more likely to be living in things that look more like underground hamster cages than an actual diverse ecosystem. good chance i'll never see it myself at this age.

IMO it's a waste of resources to climb out of this gravity well only to go get stranded in another. anything you can do on Mars you can probably do inside the Moon or hollowed out asteroids or ...

Yup, preparing for my cold blitz too. Nothing like yours, but Texas style Siberian Express cold. Getting ready to boil water to melt ice in animals water buckets. Don’t bother me with that heated this and that. I’d have to stick the plug in the mud, and I heard that doesn’t work very effectively.

Had to do ONE MORE POST here before I retire this thread.
NEW YEAR's EVE, 2022
DD's planned out an "eatalong" marathon watching of all 3 LOTR films. We watched, "The Fellowship of the Ring," "The Two Towers," and "The Return of the King" in sequence and ate along.
DD cataloged it on FB so I'm gonna share here, bc @canesisters is the only FB and TEG friend that may have seen it.
Here we go...
Fellowship Title, 12-31-22.jpg

FIRST breakfast was sausages, like Sam made when they first set out, fried eggs--finally got good at this!--bacon and coffee.
***
EDIT: forgot 1st breakfast~
First breakfast: fried eggs, sausage, and bacon. And mimosas. We began the movie with this meal.

Grapes. For Denethor's messy meal and Faramir's almost demise. We wanted tomatoes, but, they are out of season, obviously, and we don't like hothouse tomatoes. This worked just as well.

What is LEMBAS bread?

it's references in the Lord of the Rings series as a travel food, made by the elves so it is super good tasting wrapped in special leaves to preserve it even more, since it isn't described exactly you are left to give it your favorite flavors and texture, but the main point of it in the series is that it is emergency food that can sustain you for a long time walking or riding and it also restored your spirits in the face of really rotten times and harsh weather.

kinda the more solid version of coffee and/or hot chocolate and a bread version of chocolate perhaps. :) it didn't melt in your pack and it didn't spoil (but it could be broken into pieces). probably had honey...

the author was probably thinking of cookies (or biscuits as the Brits would put it) and really good ones at that. :) there are also references to a dwarvish version called cram which you can imagine from the name is not all that appetizing... but it did the job.
